Wood floors can be screened and recoated but there is some stupliations
The old finish must be in good condition . It cannot be waxed, oiled , cleaned with murphies oil soap, or any other cleaner that may compromise the adhesion of the new finish coat . Unlike sanding and refinishing which involvs sanding the floor down to bare wood, screening is a light sanding. It gets out superficial scratches, scuff marks, surface stains, and minor imperfections. So if your wood floor is in relatively good condition screening may be a good option. It is less expensive than a total sand and refinish and the prosedute takes less time.
